These Cherry Chocolate Chip Muffins are a delicious treat combining the tartness of cherries with the sweetness of chocolate chips.  Perfect for breakfast or a snack!


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup pitted cherries (fresh or frozen, thawed and drained if using frozen)
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional)


1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease the muffin cups.

2. Prepare the Batter:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.  Do not overmix.
Gently fold in the chopped cherries and chocolate chips.

3. Fill the Muffin Cups:

Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 fill.
If desired, sprinkle the tops with sliced almonds.

4. Bake the Muffins:

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

5. Serve:
Enjoy the muffins warm or at room temperature.  They can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
