For the on-the-go person who wants a healthy breakfast with little prep, we offer this delicious breakfast recipe using Traverse City’s dried cherries. Cherry almond refrigerator oatmeal is a cinch to make. With the many variations on ingredients, you will never get tired of the same old bland oatmeal.  Use your imagination with additional ingredients to suit your taste.  Involve the kids in making it, too!


1 cup steel cut oats (or old fashioned oats)
1 1/2 cup almond milk
1 cup Benjamin Twiggs Michigan Dried Cherries
1/2 cup almond slices
2 T chia seeds
1/2 t cinnamon
1 T Benjamin Twiggs Cherry Honey


Combine almond milk and cherry honey in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
Spoon into mason jars or other container. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

To serve, spoon into a bowl and eat cold or warm up in microwave. Drizzle cherry honey on top if more sweetness is desired.

Cherry Coconut variation:
substitute the almond milk with coconut milk
substitute almonds with 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
remove cinnamon
